Step One:
Decide if solar is right for you
The first step on your solar journey has nothing to do with actually installing panels on your property. Before any of that, it’s important to understand whether you are a good candidate for solar. We know, we know…as a solar company, you’d think we’d recommend solar panels to everyone, right? But in reality, solar may or may not be the right energy choice for you depending on how much electricity you use and your property.
Step Two:
Contract and Design
During the site evaluation the installer comes to your home to verify the planned system design. (For our process, if the scope of work has changed, the initial contract is void and amendments are made). The installer will check the roof and attic, the electrical setup, and battery placement (if applicable).
At this point, results of the site evaluation have come back and any changes needed are now to be approved. If there were changes from the original design, the homeowner may now review those changes and give feedback, or approve the final design before it’s sent for permit approval. Not only the aesthetics of the design are checked, but also the electrical work and system production.
Step Three:
Installation and activation
Installation just takes a few days, usually two to four. You don’t necessarily even need to be home during installation. This is when you let the professionals do their job and you can sit back and relax. Note that your power will likely need to be turned off for a few hours.
Step four:
Maintenance and cleaning
Solar panels are exposed to various environmental elements, such as dust, dirt, pollen, bird droppings, and other debris, which can accumulate on their surface. These particles can significantly reduce the efficiency of your solar panels by obstructing sunlight and preventing the solar cells from absorbing energy. Keeping the panels clean and well-maintained can ensure peak performance, increase lifespan, and maximise the return on your investment.
